Blogging has always been an interest of mine, but I could never really decide what kind of content I'd want to do if I did it. Recently I started using Instagram more and I really enjoyed trying to do a bit of a longer description on my photos, which meant I could give more detail about the photo like how I took it, what settings and any post processing I did. The only thing I realised though is people don't really like long paragraphs of text on there, so I thought why not a blog? So this is the start of hopefully quite a few posts on my new blog. I'm hopping to post about anything creative I do as a sort of online portfolio so keep an eye out, but first I thought Id give you a little insight into who I am...
My names Alexander Parnell and I'm a 19 year old student from the UK. I'm currently studying film and Moving Image Production at Norwich University of the Arts and am going into second year in the next few weeks. I'm huge into all things creative, I love to create as much as I can, from Films to Photos to Graphics. Being surrounded by creative people at university helps a lot, it pushes me to go out and do as much as I possibly can. It also allows me to learn new things quicker, I always find it easier to have somebody show me how they achieved a certain look or lit a certain scene instead of having to search online for a tutorial on how they did it. My main passion has always been in filmmaking, I love it. Every aspect of it, it's so interesting and intriguing, with each project you learn so much and its such an exciting feeling seeing your film that you've lost sweat and blood over come together in an edit.
I recently though have been getting more and more into photography, I've always done a bit of it here and there but never properly. With being at uni I now live with 4 other very creative people, two of them which do photography. I started to really enjoy going on shoots with them so therefore decided to start doing some of my own, I recently went away for a family holiday to America which for the first time I decided to bring my camera and my trusty super wide angle lens to see what I could get. After this holiday I was kicking myself for not bringing it on others, I was able to get some amazing photos which I would never even dreamt of getting. In some more blogs I have planned I'm looking at talking about some of these photos, about the gear I used, the settings I used and also just some general talk about what I like and don't like about them.
Anyway that's just a small insight into who I am and what I do, if you do want to find out a bit more or see any of my other photos of films check out either my Instagram, YouTube or Twitter.
Thanks for Reading!
